The Association's James Grant exhibition is now on at
the Edinburgh Room, Central Library, George IV Bridge.
Following the success of our Greyfriars Bobby display,
we now have our own Bobby who lives with Association
member John Lovie and his wife at North Berwick. Blue
who has been in training for the last six months was
featured in the 'Edinburgh Evening News' along with
Stuart Wilson our public relations advisor.
Greyfriars Bobby Day takes place on Sunday 4th May.
Fifty terriers organised by the Skye Terrier Club will
assemble on the Castle Esplanade before trotting down
to Greyfriars Kirk where a service will be held to
commemorate the 150th anniversary of the world famous
dog appearing in the cemetery. On the way the dogs
will stop off at the City Chambers where a civic
reception will be waiting for the terriers and their
owners courtesy of the Lord Provost.
Our model time ball in the One o' clock Gun Exhibition
is working again thanks to Nick Sanders our
electronics wizard. Sgt. Shannon's models are also
receiving a great deal of attention while the interior
looks good having been redecorated by Historic
Scotland's painters. Although we have no way at
present of recording the total, the Exhibition
probably gets over a million visitors during the year.
The project to repair the Nelson Monument time ball
has now begun. Nick Sanders, John Lovie and Stuart
Wilson were appointed by the main committee to form a
Time Ball Sub-committee at the A.G.M. and will be
working with David MacDonald of World Heritage
Edinburgh to restore one of the city's most famous
landmarks. |
